5 Favorite Travel Moments of 2015

During 2015, I decided to commit to creating a travel blog and in turn, commit to traveling more. It was a wonderful year with its ups and downs and arguing with parents about where I can and cannot go, but in the end, 2015 was the year I came a little bit closer to discovering who I really am.

Key West, Florida

Key West 725

My first trip of the year and my first solo trip leaving the airport was to Key West. I had it all planned out. I was going to rent an SUV and make the remarkable drive down to Key West. Then once I got there I was going to sleep in my car. A brilliant idea if I weren’t A) scared of the dark and being in the dark in new places and B) scared a stranger was going to kill me. Thanks Mom.

I did, in fact, meet a dude that I though might kidnap me if given the chance. And that made the prospect of sleeping in my rental car in the empty parking lot of the grocery store even more terrifying. But, I put on my big girl panties and went to sleep anyway.

Las Vegas, Nevada

I was in Las Vegas at least three times in 2015, but the most memorable was the second time, a few days before my 21st birthday.

The Eagles were playing at the MGM Grand!

For years I had always wanted my first concert to be The Eagles and my dream of seeing them live in concert finally came true. Hopefully I’ll be able to go to their next concert, even though it won’t be the same without Glen Frey, they will still be my favorite band, forever and always.

Oahu, Hawaii

My second trip all on my own ended up being way more expensive than I was anticipating, but in the end, it was nice to chill out on the beach and road trip around the island a couple of times, being able to do whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted.

Osnabruck, Germany

Osnabrück

With little to no sleep the hours leading up to our arrival and no opportunity to sleep the day of our arrival, the trip was brutal to start with. After a nights sleep, we were good to go and ready for the day’s adventure ahead.

Amsterdam, Netherlands

I didn’t get the opportunity to leave the airport, but the Dutch can pronounce my name correctly. How would you pronounce Nichoal? I’ll give you a hint: It is NOT Nikolai, obviously.

2016 is sure to be full of many more incredible moments, travel and non-travel, and I am excited to see where this year will take me.

What was your favorite travel moment from 2015?
