What to Do When You Don’t Want to Travel

Sun country hometown lakes

Gasp! Did someone who revolves around travel just write that title? Yes.

Sometimes I just don’t want to travel.

I don’t want to wake up at 2 AM to drive to the airport.

I don’t want to drive for hours and miles to reach a destination.

I don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on all the expenses of travel. Plus I am trying to save $10,000 by the middle of June 2018.

I just want to be at home, doing things like:

Reading a Book

Did you know that I fell into the blogging world way back at the beginning of high school when I started a blogger account? I wanted a place to share all my bookish stuff since no one I knew enjoyed reading as much as I did. I even started playing around with graphic design and stuff to make my blog look all pretty.

You can still see my lovely first blog here if you want. I won’t cringe too much if you click on the link. Because I was afraid of what people would think if they knew who I really was, I wrote all my reviews under the name Alisa.

Then I moved on to something that sounded a little better. I retitled my blog Forever Reading because I will be a reader forever. Even if I stop, I will keep coming back to books.

Through the course of my book blogging adventure, I have stumbled across some amazing authors and books.

One of my favorite authors is Victoria Schwab (she also writes under the name V.E. Schwab). She is the author of the Shades of Magic (If you only ever read one book a year, read A Darker Shade of Magicseries and Monsters of Verity series. Those are the only two series by her I have read, but let me tell you, they are Ah-may-zing. The world building and character development just blow me away every time I read one of her books.

Another one of my favorite authors is Jennifer L. Armentrout (also writes under the name J. Lynn when they have a couple more steamy, sexy scenes). The Covenant Series and the Lux series are two of my favorites! The Covenant has a spin-off series called Titan. Right now I am reading Wicked (also apart of a series) and it is filling all the bookish holes that I have had in my heart since college.

I’m really passionate about my books in case you couldn’t tell from all the links.

Working on my Blogs

Yes, blogs. Plural.

Chasing Departures, obviously. Forever Reading like I mentioned above. And I am in the midst of starting a dog blog to accompany a business I launched at the beginning of 2017. Anyone have any post ideas for the dog blog? I’m drawing a blank… that’s why it has taken me so long to get it up and running.

Writing a Book

Did you know that one of my goals in life is to write a bestselling book? Probably not, I don’t tell many people. I have so many ideas floating around in my head sometimes that I need to write them down. Currently, I am working on developing three ideas farther than just an idea. I did NaNoWriMo for a whopping four days this year before bowing out. My novel is a hot mess and the plot is so jumbled and needs a lot of fixing and help. So I threw in the towel and I’m starting over from square one as it just needs to happen.

Spending Time with my Pets

My mom raises show dogs, so we have a couple critters at home. Some of them are mine. Vala, Tigger, Nymeria, and Puck (I think that is what his name is. Poor dog, I can’t come up with a name, this is like name number 6 in two months). They only have eyes for me so it is nice to spend time with them.

There is also Walter and Gru the cats. More often than not I call him Wally though. Wally and Gru are something special. We have never had cats quite like them before.

Improving my Photography Skills

Photography is the very first thing I remember being passionate about that wasn’t about dogs. Not that I don’t love doing dog stuff, I need to be normal too sometimes. I have come a long way from the girl who refused to edit her photos and then refused to shoot in manual mode.

Have you seen my star shots?
