I spent one month living in Berlin over the summer. One of my goals was to photograph the city in 35mm black and white film in order to have a really cool photography project for the spring semester.
This is how it came together. Below is my artist statement that is hanging next to the images in the gallery.
The images in this series were taken over the course of a month while I was in Berlin. The month was dedicated to exploring the city and developing a guidebook. These are some of my favorite images from all the rolls of film I took. What I really liked about these particular images over some of the other ones I had to choose from was the crisp lines against the sky. Another aspect of them that I really liked was there were no people in them. All of the photos were printed in the darkroom over the course of the semester.
Have you ever taken black and white film photos? Did you like it or not?
